U.S. East Coast Storms Cause Widespread Cargo Delays

Several Eastern US Ports released statements this week identifying foreseeable delays in already severely congested terminals. The delays are a direct result of a series of snow storms that have crippled much of the East coast, as well as severe weather in Europe that has delayed vessel departures bound for the US. Most vessel departures out of the U.S. have been stalled at least once – and many are now three weeks behind their sailing schedules. Storage space for containers awaiting loading has become scarce and most carriers are still charging for export detention/demurrage.

Port Authorities along the East coast are calling for immediate action to help relieve congestion.

TransGroup will continue to monitor the situation and apprise you of further developments. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your local TransGroup office.
